I suggest 3840 by 1080 this will give 3840 pixels wide wrap around with 1080 pixels high, and will appear to take up your full field of vision in the headset if you pull the virtual screen up close to your face and adjust your seating further back in game. As for oculus desktop view, you can always try setting up a custom resolution in your graphics card settings program. Plus they (desktop +) are constantly updating their product. Capeesh? Now openTrack for rift will only give a virtual screen that will not be locked to your head movements, there may be other virtual desktop software that can do that for you and as mentioned desktop+ is free and offers a wide variety of features that oculus desktop view doesn’t.
